Where should we go, July 3 to 5?

Two options for the long weekend with the five of us and the little one. Have a look at both and tap the heart on anything you'd want to do. Nothing here is locked in — the hearts just help us see what everyone's drawn to.

Tateyama Kurobe alpine route

The alpine route crosses the Northern Japan Alps between Toyama and Nagano, linking cable cars, a trolley bus, and a ropeway. Its high point is Murodo at about 2,450 metres.

Kurobe Dam, at 186 metres, is the tallest dam in Japan and the usual centrepiece of a day here.

Total through-ticket runs into the several-thousand-yen range — confirm the current fare before committing.
